General Questions

Of course! True Yoga is geared toward ALL levels of fitness, and everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.

For more information on our classes and which one is right for you visit our class page here.

Absolutely. Our instructors are trained to provide low-impact options and modifications for each exercise. Depending on your injury we recommend starting off with gentle, slower-paced class, such as True Hatha, Yin, or Restorative. We believe in modifying instead of missing your practice. After all the only workout you regret is the one you didn’t do.

Before you practice, you want to aim for snacks that are easy to digest and that will help you stay loose while you practice. Of course, what works for your body is specific and personal, so the most important thing is to experiment and listen to your body to determine the timing and foods that works best for you.

Try simple carbohydrates with small amounts of protein, fat, or fiber for power and energy.

We love a good high protein smoothie to keep us energized.

There is good research that yoga may help you manage stress, improve your mood, curb emotional eating, and create a community of support, all of which can help with weight loss and maintenance.

Although yoga can also help you burn calories, as well as increase your muscle tone the most effective method to optimise your body composition is through a mix of diet, strength training and conditioning. Yes, you can! Our True yoga classes are All-levels friendly, as you practise yoga regularly, you will increase your flexibility on your own time and pace. Our bodies need to stretch to stay strong and healthy. Our good yoga teachers can help you adjust poses and positions to accommodate your body type, shape and limitations.

Stillness of the body leads to stillness of the breath. Stillness here does not mean cessation. The breath becomes quiet, unlabored and gentle
Once the breath has become quiet, the deepest stillness arises.
To still the mind, the breath must be calm. To calm the breath, the body must be still. When these conditions have been met, deep awareness is possible. This state can be achieved only by commitment and dedication. Commit to stillness and allow whatever arises to be just what it is.

Yin yoga offers a number of the same general benefits as other styles of yoga—but it’s particularly ideal for releasing stress in the body’s connective tissues and activating the parasympathetic nervous system.
Yin also works on stimulating the flow of energy through the meridians, or energy channels, to create balance in the body.

Kids 16 and older are welcome to join our classes.
Please note we also offer Kid’s Yoga as well, for those little-yogis!
